The last main stop in Turkey is the town of Mardin. Only 20km from the border with Syria, this town is a melting pot of different cultures and religions.

The city is built on the southern slope of a large hill. On the many roof-top terraces you can overlook the so-called Mesopotamian plains, a completely flat area to the south.
