One change from the Middle East to East Africa is the abundance of campsites. Since Montenegro we didn't spend a single night on one of them, and in the Middle East they simply didn't exist.

If we have to choose we prefer to find a nice spot, and spend the night alone in nature. However, campsites have their perks as well, including hot showers, and the easy availability of firewood.
