Kwenia is a great place to visit if you are into birding. This escarpment is a nesting site for the Rüppell’s vulture, a critically endangered species. From here they fly long distances to Masai Mara and Amboselli to hunt for food.

The Rüppell’s vulture is the highest flying bird in the world, and there is a well documented case, where one bird crashed into the jet engine of a plane at an altitude of 11,300 m 😳.

To reach the cliffs we had to drive through an area that was until recently still part of the lake, meaning it was some interesting terrain to drive on 😏, but also that next to the vultures, there were many water birds to see.
