This salt flat came as a big surprise. We were just trying to follow the closest trails to the coastline when the landscape changed into the dried up salt pan of the last two pictures. Some kilometers later we found ourselves completely unplanned on a huge white salt flat.

It can actually be quite unpredictable if such a salt crust is strong enough. If you break through, like ice, you can suddenly sink quite deep into the water and mud below. So we followed the tracks from previous vehicles, and crossed our fingers 🤞🏻.

We made it without issue and the next morning, with salt everywhere, we rushed to the closest village for a thorough car wash 🫧.
