Remember our last post, showing our first camp spot in Bahrain? After a string of random events and encounters we ended up being invited to stay in this luxury beach resort instead. Luckily we washed our car just before entering Bahrain, such that we felt just a little bit less out of place 🙈.
At the end of the 19th century, three quarters of all exports of Bahrain consisted of pearls. Still today, we met multiple people who dive for pearls, for some side money or just for fun. We received a tour along the Pearling Path, showcasing some of this history in different old and renovated buildings. This same mix of old and new is also visible at Souq al Baraha shown in the last image.
