Visiting historical sites or buildings can be a hit or miss for us. Sometimes we are blown away, but other times we are just wondering why we are looking at a pile of stones, without seeing the bigger picture.
Thee Ain is definitely in the first category. Built upon a small white mountain, the village appears as if it is a single building. Some buildings are as old as the 8th century, and with walls up to 1 meter thick it is no wonder that they are still standing.
That being said, it was not completely clear to us how much of the village is still original, and how much was renovated more recently, but we can imagine with such massive walls, it could have stood the test of time with ease.
