The historic significance of Istanbul as the capital of both the East Roman and Ottoman Empires really shows when visiting the different religious buildings in the city 🙏🏻.

Hagia Sofia, built as a church in 537 CE, later also served as a mosque and a museum. In 2020 Erdogan changed it back to a mosque and hid the icons of Mary and Jesus behind white cloth.

The Blue Mosque was the first mosque after the Sacred Mosque in Mecca to feature 6 minarets. In response to this arrogance, a 7th minaret was quickly added in Mecca.
